5 Fresh Styling Tricks to Help You Style Your Chunky Sweater

In collaboration with Chicwish.

Stay warm while remaining stylish with a chunky sweater

One of the first things I always look for in autumn is knitwear. They pair perfectly with chilly autumn days and crisp leaves, and obviously, they’re meant to keep us warm and cozy during the colder months.

I love oversized, chunky sweaters for a few reasons:

  1. They have enough room for layering when you need some extra warmth.
  2. They’re easy to style in multiple ways, and can be worn with jeans for casual look, skirts for a statement look or if the sweater is long enough, with nothing underneath styled with knee-high boots.
  3. A chunky sweater is very photogenic, the heavier material and the texture just looks good when being photographed.
  4. They’re timeless, a chunky sweater trend is here to stay, so you can surely make the most of your sweater season after season.

If you have a chunky sweater somewhere in your wardrobe or consider investing in one, but are not used to wearing oversized styles, styling a chunky sweater can feel a little challenging. Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of extra material in this knitted number. To avoid finding yourself looking shapeless, and instead, looking fabulous and polished, there are a few tricks to help you:

5 Styling tricks to help you style your chunky sweater

1. Tuck it in

Try a half-tuck, that means slightly tuck your chunky knit halfway into your bottom of choice (see my pictures). This works specially if the sweater features a long and wide fit.

2. Look for balance

Pair your chunky knit with sleek pieces, like slim skirt or trousers for balanced and figure-flattering finish. Pair with heels or sleek boots for extra stylish and polished look.

3. Go all-oversized

If oversized looks are your thing, you can just forget all the rules, and make it a statement look! Go all-oversized, add wide-legged pants or loose maxi skirt, and finish the look with chunky boots or sneakers.

4. Glam it up

For a more glamorous finish, pair your chunky sweater with something shiny, a satin slip dress would go perfectly with it or maybe even a sequin trousers… Metallic accessories work well too!

5. Be confident

Wear your chunky sweater with confidence and smile (that works for your all looks). When you feel happy inside your happiness will shine on everyone you meet.

I hope these styling tricks will help you to feel confident and happy in all your chunky sweater looks.

6 Ways to Feel Confident in Your Clothes

In collaboration with Chicwish.

Your style is an evolution and will change over time

Do you remember when you were a kid and you wore what you loved without worrying about what other people think of your style? Getting dressed up was so simple back then, you just picked up your favorite pieces… and that’s it, you wore them happily and satisfied.

Then something happens… you grow up, you have a bigger closet full of clothes that you have bought yourself, but still you got “nothing to wear”. Have you ever struggled with that? I used to have this problem all the time, and I know it’s frustrating.

For example, after having a baby my body shape changed, and I needed to learn how to dress that new body. Moreover, a personal style is always an evolution, we don’t want to dress up the same way in our thirties as we were in our twenties… So, you need to figure your own style (again) and improve your confidence to work out what kind of clothes you really love. Of course, it’s easier said than done.

All you need is a little confidence

To find your own style confidence, you don’t need to change your body to fit into certain clothes, you just need to figure out the certain pieces that fit for your body type right now just the way it is.

So the question is: How to find the perfect pieces for you? What works and what doesn’t is different for every individual. Nobody assembles the perfect wardrobe in a day, it takes time, and it’s an ever-changing process. The first place to start is to look for the pieces that give you confidence, the pieces you would love to wear over and over again, pieces that make you feel happy, comfortable and give you the feeling that you can conquer the world.

6 Ways to feel confident in your clothes

1. Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable

The way you dress have a huge effect on your identity, when you feel good about yourself, you’re more likely to feel good inside too. Pay attention to the clothes that make you feel comfortable, the fabrics you love to wear, like lightweight silky fabrics and soft knitwear, the cut that works for you. When it comes to your own style, it’s all about what you enjoy wearing.

2. Choose the colors and prints that you love

What colors do you usually wear? If orange is trending know, there’s no point to buy it in your closet if it’s not your color – if you don’t like it, you will never wear it. That’s why it’s important to know what colors you actually love to wear. It’s the same with prints, someone loves geometric stripes, someone loves wild animal prints, and somonee loves delicate florals. Choose the prints that you love, not the prints that are trendy.

3. Get rid of the clothing that you never wear

If you are like most women, your wardrobe has a few items that you constantly wear and a lot of items you can’t even remember the last time you wore them. Get rid of the clothes that make you feel bad, the ones that doesn’t fit any more, the ones that wrinkles easily, itchy wool pieces, pieces that are too tight or too loose… all those pieces that you for some reason never wear. Yes, it feels uncomfortable to give away your clothes, but a proper closet clean out will help you make sense of your own style. You will learn what you don’t like and then you will learn what you actually like.

4. Know your own uniform

Knowing your own uniform helps when you feel you got “nothing to wear”. Figure out your go-to pieces, the ones that you can easily throw on and feel put together. For example, an oversized white button-up shirt paired with jeans always works, or if you are a dress person maybe a long knit dress for fall/winter and lightweight dress for spring/summer styled with a trench coat or a blazer, would do that. Knowing the outfits you love to wear over and over again will make your dressing up easy and stress-free.

5. Shop alone or with a Personal Stylist

Shopping alone helps you to trust your own instinct, it pushes you to make your own decisions, and shows you that you know how to dress your own body. When you shop with a friend, you’re more likely to shop impulsively and end up having a lot of clothes, but know idea where to wear them. If you feel unhappy with your style, investing in a Personal Stylist can help you find the clothes that suit you and your lifestyle, and that will increase your confidence and make a huge positive impact in your life.

6. Wear something risky

Wearing something you find a little risky can help your courage to grow. When you allow yourself to try something different from your standards, to make mistakes, you also allow yourself to learn. When you try new things you may find something that really lights you up, something other than what you already know. But most importantly, you will learn that other people’s opinions about what you wear doesn’t really matter, what matters is how YOU feel in your clothes. Clothing can actually set you free, if you allow it.

What Does It Mean to Be a Woman? / Thoughts About Womanhood

Being a woman is a gift for you to embrace

Last week I came across a book that was about womanhood, how we have learned to see our emotionality, hormonal oscillations, and mood swings as a weakness when they actually are a STRENGTH. Have you ever thought about it that way?

I’ve only read the beginning of the book, but I found it quite interesting… Of course, each woman and her experiences are uniquely hers, but anyway we all are designed by nature, our bodies are much wiser than we think. One fascinating thing from the book was that our mood swings and the days when we are most critical to everything around us are a time of psychological inventory when we figure out if we are where we want to be in life. It got me thinking that our mood swings have their own purpose, they help us to move forward in life, to change things we need to change to make our life the way we want it. It was eye-opening… I guess one of the most important things is to move away from labeling everything “bad” or “good”, because even our mood swings have their positive sides.

No matter how you identify a womanhood or how you choose to embrace it in your life, remember that you and your feelings matter… because we were never meant to be just static. We’re all unique and that’s the beauty of it.

This Is the Prettiest Color for Fall 2021

I just noticed that pastel pink is the perfect fall color

When I was about 25-30 years old I mostly wore black and white. I didn’t have the confidence to wear colors, and I was afraid that I would look foolish or wear colors “wrong”. At some point I felt I needed to refresh my style and to start enjoying getting dressed up again… and so I started exploring fashion through the colors in my everyday life.

It’s amazing how quickly trying new things each day gives you more courage to pursue even more. And as you learn to believe in your own taste, you may even find something that really lights you up. I’ve always loved pink, but for many years I never wore it. Now I love wearing pink clothing and accessories and I’ve also decorated my home with some pops of pink.

What’s your favorite color and do you have the courage to wear it?

Wardrobe Classic / This Chic Dress Trend Is Here to Stay

Slipping on a chic knit dress

As a dress lover, I’m always excited for the dresses to wear in each season. Effortless, good-looking dresses are one of my most trusted fashion pieces and I wear them all the time. My ultimate fall weather staple is a knit dress, it’s a stylish essential for the chilly months when you want to feel comfortable yet put together. They are incredibly versatile to style in multiple ways, and perfect for layering for cooler weather too.

Knitted dresses are incredibly versatile, I like to pair them with heels or boots for a date night, with sneakers for running errands around the city, and with a cozy cup of tea for lounging at home. And the best part is, a knitted dress is more like a wardrobe classic than a trend, it never really goes out of fashion, which makes it the perfect investment piece.

3 Fresh Ways to Style a White Button-Up Shirt in 2021

Make your white button-up shirt feel 100 times cooler

It’s time to leave your pencil skirt and straight fit trousers to hang in your wardrobe for a while, and instead, look for refreshed styling tricks for your beloved classic white button-up shirt. Right now, it seems like this classic wardrobe hero goes with anything in your wardrobe, and when I say anything, I mean ANYTHING. You can style a button-up shirt any way you like, wear it with sportswear, party dresses or swimsuits, you can’t go wrong.

The chicest way to wear a white button-up shirt this fall, is to pick an oversized fit to achieve that soft, loose-fitting silhouette that we’re all about, think about shirts that look like they’ve been borrowed from your dad’s, boyfriend’s or husband’s wardrobe (my white shirt is actually borrowed from my husband’s wardrobe, super-sized menswear usually work). To create a cool look, style your oversized shirt with something unexpected.

White Shirt + Ripped Jeans

For an everyday ensemble, you can’t go wrong with a classic button-up shirt and ripped jeans. Style with heels for a ladylike touch or with sneakers for more casual look.

White Shirt + Sportswear

If you’re having a busy day and need to go straight to the gym after having a lunch date, you can throw your button-up shirt over your active-wear and you are ready for all your activities.

White Shirt + Dress

Try wearing a crisp white button-up shirt instead of a blazer over a slip dress or a lightweight knitted dress. Style with sneakers for a cool-girl vibe, this pairing will never fail you.

Every woman needs a satin slip dress in her closet

Beautiful dresses are my wardrobe’s most trusted pieces, I am a big fan of good-looking dresses and I love to wear them everywhere and at any time, but nothing feels quite as effortless as a classic, silky slip dress. Thanks to its simplicity, it goes with nearly everything you own and can be styled with so many ways.

Slip dresses are ideal for effortless summertime look, but also lightweight enough to layer in the winter. You can wear tees, turtlenecks, and other tops underneath a slip dress or you can throw a chunky sweater over it. I also love to pair a fancy slip dress with an oversized floor-length coat styled with embellished heels for a chic fall look or with knee-high boots for a stylish winter look. It’s hard to think of any other item that is as versatile as a slip dress!

Could a slip dress be the most versatile item in your wardrobe?

Maybe! And if you ask me, it’s the most worn dress in my wardrobe! My favorite slip dress is this emerald-colored number from Chicwish, it’s made from luxurious, soft satin and it features a very flattering cowl neckline, spaghetti-thin straps, and split hem. This is the perfect dress for date-nights, cocktail events or layering piece. It’s a really elegant dress and if you think it looks great on pictures, wait until you see it in real life.

If you ask me, a skirt that flatters your body type and looks elegant brings you instant mood-lifting benefits.

Always a little shine and sparkle!

One of the best ways to bring a touch of glamour to your outfit is to add something metallic, something shiny, something golden… and that’s it! Easy, effortless and effective – fancy details will take you from simply wearing your clothes to being dressed.

My absolute favorite skirt at the moment is this Chicwish skirt, it features a great A-line silhouette, high-waist fit and a beautiful pattern with golden leaves. It is perfect for any dress up occasions and can be easily styled with multiple ways.

Elegant and classy – just the way I like it!

If you are like me, and you love feminine and elegant pieces, then you might love prints with delicate florals and soft color palettes… I am obsessed with all flowers and I think I just can’t get enough of them. Somebody is attracted to geometric prints, somebody to abstract prints, but I really really love florals, nothing beats them. So, you can see why I fell in love with this fabulous, blooming floral skirt, it’s one of my all-time favorites, and I have to keep myself from wearing it too much!

Feminine aesthetic

What outfits make you feel feminine? For me, I put on an A-line skirt, embellished shoes and a cute top, and that’s it for me. I have been loving an A-shaped skirts and dresses for a while now, and they always make me feel so good, so glamorous. Every time I wear them my whole mood becomes elevated and I just feel happier. Do you know that feeling you get from wearing your favorite clothes?

I’m in love with this beautiful skirt with a glorious floral pattern, it makes me feel like I’m walking on a field full of flowers. I am looking forward to style this skirt with a forest green knit for a fancy fall-time look.

Wear your favorite clothes everyday!

I have found my style step by step, and every day I am still creating myself – style is an evolution and it changes over time. That’s the fun part of it, there’s always something exiting around the corner, waiting for you to rock it in your own way.

As I grow older, I find myself expressing my style with an open mind. The truth is, you can only find your own style by taking a risk… trying something new might make you feel foolish about yourself, but there’s a chance that it leads you to find something that really lights you up, makes your skin glow and your eyes sparkle.

Spring Season Is Almost Here / This Is The Perfect Springtime Trend

The one print that you will always keep

… Is an evergreen polka-dot print! Patterned pieces are always fun to wear and style. If you’re searching for a print that is graphic, feminine, elegant and playful, look no more! The one print you need is called polka-dots. This retro-inspired pattern suits every body type and every age, and the best thing is, it never goes out of style.

There are so many different types of polka-dots where to select your own favorites, for example the color of the fabric and the size of the dots.

  1. If you opt for a classic pieces, stay in black and white, for a more playful look, choose an unexpected color combination.
  2. The bigger the dots, the more eye-catching the outfit, if you want to make a real statement look, search for the biggest dots you can find.

Styling is the key

The classic way to wear a polka-dot dress, is to finish the look with cat-eye sunglasses, pearls, kitten heels and bold red lips. And if you really feel like dressing up, wrap a silk scarf over your head, to make the finishing touch. This styling trick will never let you down.

For more carefree, smart relaxed look, try combining a ruffled polka-dot skirt with sneakers and a hoodie, and you will be good to go… or to stay at home.

If it makes you happy, wear it.

Are you a fan of polka-dots? What is your favorite way to wear this print? Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
